Hanger 13 confirmed that Mafia: The Old Country will have Free Ride mode as a part of a free upcoming update; the information was revealed on Aug. 15, with no other information outside of a teaser picture teasing the new mode. The update will add new activities and gameplay content, but no details were provided. The exact release date for the free update is not available, but Hanger 13 did state that it is coming in the next upcoming months.
Free Ride mode in the previous title, Mafia: Definitive Edition, allowed players to participate in phone booth missions, consisting of races and taxi rides, and explore the open world without constraint. The mode in older iterations of Mafia games allowed players to test drive vehicles.
Mafia: The Old Country was initially released on Aug. 8, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As of writing, the game has “Mostly Positive” Steam reviews with 10,242 total user reviews. The game has amassed over 3 million hours of viewership on Twitch, with 600 million shots fired, 185 million enemies dispatched, 17 million bandages used, and 10 billion Dinari earned.
