Developed by Lorevault and published by Nexon Games, Woochi the Wayfarer was teased on Aug. 11, arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The single-player title currently has no release date or schedule; it is based on the Korean novel “The Tale of Jeon Woonchi,” which draws roots from Korean culture and shamanism.
The trailer showcases a shaman chanting an incantation, granting her power to face against Woochi, the main protagonist of the story. As of writing, no gameplay for the game has been revealed; the trailer was a cinematic teaser. The game is a single-player fantasy action adventure. The soundtrack is composed by Jung Jae-il, who also created the soundtrack of the film Parasite and Netflix’s Squid Game.
Within the novel, a Taoist wizard uses magical powers to help the common people and punish corrupt officials. Jeon Woo Chi gains his powers by consuming a magical bead belonging to the nine-tailed fox, allowing him to transform, fly, and manipulate elements.
The novel has been adapted into various media, including a K-drama, movie, and now a video game.
