The FBC: Firebreak team made an update blog, sharing the team’s plans for the first major update planned for late September. No exact release date for the update was announced, but the marketed changes were revealed. One of the biggest changes being implemented is catered towards new players, helping the onboarding process of the world. Pop up tips are being implemented to notify players of important information during relevant times.
Other changes include adjustments to the gunplay. Three new heavy guns are being added, while all generic upgrades from equipment are being dropped. The game will give players a powerful version of everything that a Firebreak needs from the beginning, according to the blog. A Mod system is being added, replacing the generic upgrades.
In addition, they are replacing Clearance and Corruption Levels with pre-made variations of Job experiences. In doing so, the team is trying to weed out the least fun experiences while focusing on the game’s best experiences. This new system is called “Crisis Board.” A new job is being added as well, more information on the new job will be given at a later time.
The FBC: Firebreak team communicated that though these changes are marketed to improve the overall experience of the title, more changes are slated to come after player feedback.
FBC: Firebreak surpassed 1 million players within nine days of release. The title was released on June 17, 2025, for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It garnered mixed reviews from critics, with some outlets citing its inability to stand out or be interesting as one of its problems. FBC: Firebreak is Remedy Entertainment’s first multiplayer game.
