First reported by The Game Post, Steam has started issuing refunds for Destiny 2: Edge of Fate and Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition after Bungie made them unavailable for certain countries to access the game.
The problem started a few days ago when posts on Reddit and Bungie’s own forums regarding the issue were published. During this time, players were complaining of an error code that says “Tapir.”
In Bungie’s Error Codes glossary, this error code means that the game is likely under maintenance. The studio also mentioned that if the game is not in maintenance, they post in the forums detailing their problem.
When players did so, Bungie provided a short statement: “Destiny services are not available where access is restricted by law.” When asked for clarification, the studio did not comment any further.
As of the writing of this article, Bungie still has neither addressed the problem publicly nor mentioned that it is currently working on it.
Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy was released on July 15, 2025. Its first major expansion was Edge of Fate, which was released on the same day. The second major expansion, Renegades, is coming out on Dec. 3, 2025.
