Dying Light: The Beast revealed the roadmap for the next 11 weeks via a post on the title’s Steam page on Oct. 16, 2025.
During the period of Oct. 16 – Jan. 7, 2025, the game will host weekly community challenges and receive New Game+, Legend Levels, Nightmare difficulty, ray tracing on PC, and new weapon executions, along with visual and quality-of-life improvements and other features that will be revealed closer to their release date.
The goals for the first week of the community challenge (Oct. 16 – Oct. 23, 2025) titled A Season to Dismember are to cut off 30,000,000 limbs, which will be rewarded with a Lumberjack car skin if reached, and to cut off 60,000,000 limbs, which will be rewarded with the Woodchopper Axe weapon if reached.
Developed and published by Techland and released for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X|S on Sept. 18, 2025, Dying Light: The Beast is planned for launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in late 2025.
Played from a first-person perspective, the title is set in Castor Woods, a place located in the Western Alps, overrun by zombies, which are slow when exposed to sunlight but become more aggressive and hostile at night. In Dying Light: The Beast, Kyle Crane, the protagonist of 2015’s Dying Light, returns as the protagonist. After his transformation into a sentient volatile at the hands of the Mother in 2016’s Dying Light: The Following DLC, Crane was hiding from the Global Relief Effort (GRE) for 8 years but was captured and taken prisoner by a mysterious villain called the Baron. After being subjected to 13 years of torture and experimentation by the Baron, Crane, who now has a mix of zombie and human DNA, escapes captivity and swears revenge on the Baron, while also having to fight the beast within.
As of the time of writing, the game has a Very Positive rating on Steam, with 38,538 reviews and an all-time peak of 121,222 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
