
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to be released for Nintendo Switch 2 on Dec. 5, 2025, in both digital and physical editions, according to a report from trusted leaker billbil-kun for Dealabs Magazine, published on Oct. 15, 2025.
As reported, the physical edition of the title, which will be priced around €50 in Europe, will be a Game-Key card requiring the user to download the game file. While North American and UK prices have not yet been confirmed, they are most likely to cost $50 and £45, respectively, if based on the pricing of other games.
The news comes a month after the first paid downloadable content pack for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, titled Claws of Awaji, was released on Sept. 16, 2025.
Developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft, the 14th major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, launched for macOS and Windows PCs, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 20, 2025, with a version for iPadOS planned for release at a later date.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set in 16th-century Japan and focuses on the standoff between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order through the perspectives of two protagonists: samurai Yasuke and shinobi Naoe.
As of the time of writing, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, based on 24,075 reviews, and an all-time peak of 64,825 concurrent players, according to SteamDB, along with a Metascore of 79 points for the PC version based on 58 critic reviews, the Xbox Series X version’s Metascore of 85 points, and the PlayStation 5 port’s Metascore of 81 points, based on 22 and 102 critic reviews, respectively. On top of that, as of July 2025, the game surpassed the 5-million-player mark.
