The spiritual successor of the Patapon series, Ratatan, entered Steam early access on Sept. 18, 2025, and is now available to all players. Players can enjoy 10% off from the game’s full price until Sept. 29, 2025.
Patapon fans have been eagerly awaiting Ratatan ever since it was first announced. The game underwent a crowdfunding campaign, which was fully funded in its first hour on Kickstarter.
However, the game’s developers announced an indefinite delay in early July, citing negative player feedback during beta tests. Some of the complaints included a lack of visual impact and presentation, the tutorial and UI being difficult to understand, and the gameplay loop being unsatisfactory.
After some tinkering, the Ratatan devs felt confident enough to launch the game in early access. (It currently boasts a “Very Positive” review score on Steam.) SteamDB also recorded a peak player count of 4,467 players, as well as Ratatan placing in the top 20 in the Steam Global Top Sellers chart.
Ratatan is a rhythm action roguelike game developed by Ratata Arts, a studio that includes some of the original Patapon developers. The game will also be participating in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2025, where developers will provide exclusive items to players to test at their booth.
