The Finals launched Season 8 on Sept. 10, 2025, introducing two new weapons, a beta version of Instant Replay, and more.
As for the weapons, the heavy BFR Titan, a high-caliber, manually operated revolver that deals immense damage, joined the arsenal, along with the medium submachine gun P90, featuring a compact design and a high-capacity magazine.
Instant Replay Beta has landed in The Finals, allowing players to play back their elimination moments so they can see what happened in the fast-moving, destructible chaos of the game.
On top of that, the game’s developer rolled out a brand-new match summary screen for World Tour, Ranked, and QuickCash, and highlighted that more modes will be added. The new match summary screen features a timeline graph of important scoring events and a personal breakdown of the player’s performance, with ratings across Combat, Support, Objective Score, and more.
The title also saw the first release of a feature called by the game’s developer Smooth Destruction, which increases the cascading damage that can occur when buildings or objects fall onto others. Starting with suspended structures and cranes, making these crash down can cause significant damage and completely reshape the environment, creating new emergent play spaces in the process.
On top of that, The Finals received a Frag Grenade indicator for better readability of imminent detonations and more accurate aiming for the Dematerializer.
Developed and published by Embark Studios, the game focuses on team-based matches on maps with destructible environments and revolves around players competing in the titular fictional VR combat game show.
As of the time of writing, The Finals has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam with 234,670 reviews and an all-time peak of 242,619 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
The title is playable on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
