Shift Up officially confirmed that the Stellar Blade sequel is currently in active development, according to its semi-annual report dated Aug. 14, 2025.
The plans for the new game in Stellar Blade‘s IP were previously spotted in the company’s financial charts, where the release date for the sequel was listed as planned for launch before 2027, without outlining any details on whether the title had already entered active development.
“We are currently developing a sequel to Stellar Blade. The sequel will inherit the action-packed gameplay of the original Stellar Blade while incorporating an expanded world and enhanced gameplay mechanics. This aims to further solidify its position as a franchise IP, and we anticipate it will achieve even greater success than the original title,” reads the translation of the company’s report, powered by DeepL.
Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Stellar Blade was initially launched on April 26, 2024, as an exclusive for PlayStation 5, followed by a PC port released on June 11, 2025.
The game follows the story of Eve, who was deployed from the Colony to a post-apocalyptic Earth with her squad to fight the Naytibas, monstrous creatures that forced humanity to abandon their planet.
In addition to the base game, Stellar Blade has received two DLCs: one in collaboration with Nier: Automata and the other with Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
As of the time of writing, the title has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 38,966 reviews and a peak of 192,078 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
